The decade from late 1969 to 1979 saw major shifts in the American social, political, cultural, and artistic landscape. The turbulence of the previous decade carried over to the next and brought with it changes that had a great impact on the music we call jazz, the people who performed and curated it, and the listeners for whom it was a part of the soundtrack of their lives. Join us as we traverse the decade of recorded jazz with the exhibition Records at Play: The Institute of Jazz Studies @50 as a physical and metaphorical backdrop. Afros, dashikis, denim jackets, and platform shoes welcome.
